Jacquie Scammell & Mark Prideux – Defence Reserve Support Council

On the 11th Day of the 11th Month it is only fitting we acknowledge the Australian Defence Force for their role and service to our country.

Jaquie is the Chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council VIC, and has been serving on the council since 2011. The council’s primary responsibility is to engage with Reservists and Employers of Reservists, ensuring that all stakeholders are supported so that defence capability is realised in Australia. Jaquie is the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran and teaches people across corporate Australia how to develop a Service mindset in their teams, organisations. For over 25 years Jaquie has worked with thousands of leaders in public and private sectors to develop a service mindset where the result is they serve people in a very human way. Jaquie lives and breathes her message in an authentic way and has intentionally spent most of her corporate career living at the intersection of employee and customer. From this experience she knows what levers to pull for leaders to adopt a service mindset and reach their full potential. Her role as Chair for the DRSC VIC is another way of expressing and teaching people what leadership as Service looks like at work, regardless of civilian or military employment.

Mark graduated from the Royal Military College in 1989 into the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps.  Mark brought extensive personnel and retail management experience to the Army as a past State Manager with David Jones. His ADF Command appointments include Officer Commanding a Kosovar Refugee Camp, Officer Commanding Supply Wing, Officer Commanding Defence Indigenous Development Program Cairns, Commanding Officer Peace Monitoring Group, Bogainville and Chief of Staff at the Australian National Command Element – East Timor. After completing his Masters of Management with the University of NSW he established Army’s Indigenous Strategy and worked on significant Industrial Relations and Remuneration cases at Army Headquarters. Major Prideaux is presently the State Manager of Defence Reserves Support – Victoria, where he supports Regional ADF Reservists and the Defence Reserves Support Council to undertake their important role in\nour community.
