Over the last 23 years Jim Riordan has grown Riordan Grain Services based in Geelong, to one of the largest privately owned and operated grain networks, comprising his own transport fleet, over 70000 sq metres of bulk storage space for fertilizer, meal products, Private Country grain sites, container packing facilities and mobile bulk ship loading terminal.
The business now handles more than 1.5 million tonnes of product and has a staff of more than 80 people, with many contractors helping when required. In peak periods it would be nothing to deliver or load more than 200 trucks for a day.
Through Jim’s connection between the grain trade & transport industries, he has played an integral role in establishing the GTA /NSW L&BCA Bulk Freight of Goods Code of Practice and many meeting in relation to high productivity trucks.
Jim is also involved in a one of Australia largest commercial goat breeding businesses spread across 3 properties in Western New South wales covering more than 300000 acres. The Riordan family owned and operated a large petroleum distribution business along with agricultural land with cattle operations in Victoria and NSW.
Jim was born and raised in Colac, Western Victoria. He is married with 4 young girls, living just out of Geelong on a farming property with cattle and cropping.
