President’s Message

This month we are delighted to welcome our guest speaker Mr Bernard Dwyer to the Geelong Business Club. Mr Dwyer has been instrumental in the relocation of the Victorian port home of the Spirit of Tasmania vessels from Station Pier, Port Melbourne to Corio Quay in North Geelong, in 2022.
The relocation project is an important investment in Geelong. The project is expected to not only increase freight and exports for the region but generate construction jobs over the two-year build program, whilst increasing tourism expenditure in the greater Geelong region by up to $174.1 million by 2029.
In other business, following the success of the trial at the last meeting, we are now moving to an RSVP system to confirm your attendance at our dinner meetings. We are currently testing a new booking platform and we acknowledge that it mentions this dinner is a free event, however normal payment on arrival to the dinner still applies. This will ensure we satisfy the venue’s Covid-safe protocols, as well as manage our numbers efficiently.
And finally, this month we farewell Jon Mamonski from the Executive Officer role. Jon has assisted the GBC through a period of change and we extend our gratitude and appreciation to Jon for his contribution to the club. We wish Jon all the best and look forward to seeing him at the dinners. I am pleased to advise that Emma Jarman has been appointed as the new GBC Executive Officer. Emma has a wealth of marketing and management expertise and we look forward to working with her.
